Temporary FT Resident Worker (CRF)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Residential staff work to facilitate the safe reintegration of offenders back into the community. The general responsibilities of the position include observing and accurately recording resident’s behaviour and reporting behaviour that indicates an elevation of risk to the community, the house or to the resident himself.

Additionally all staff are expected to work as part of a team, actively seek out professional development opportunities and share knowledge. This includes attending staff meetings, participating in online and in house training and mentoring junior staff.

KEY WORK RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepares intake and admissions documentation for review with new residents in the Phoenix CRF programs prior to the resident’s move in date. Reviews Resident Handbook with new residents to ensure mutual understanding of, and agreement on, program guidelines and expectations.

Administer medication at scheduled times being sure that all documentation in the Medication Administration Records is accurately recorded.

Welcomes and orients incoming residents to the CRF programs. Helps residents with concrete needs around move-in such as bedbug protocols, getting familiar with the building, the resident community routine and location of laundry, neighborhood resources, staff locations and responsibilities.

Actively involves the resident in action planning and encourages the resident to take responsibility for the outcomes he is striving to achieve

Closely monitors and documents residents’ progress, maintains and updates client case management files through database system ensuring that monthly reporting deadlines are met.

Assists in liaising with probation/parole officers, primary care clinics, corrections, police and hospitals.

Residential staffs are also expected to be proactive in building rapport, counselling, coaching and assisting residents to behave in a pro-social manner.

Assisting with the regular daily requirements of a residential facility, such as cooking, cleaning, room inspections etc.

Proficiency in general office procedures and common computer programs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a temporary full time position requiring availability to work a rotating shift Monday to Friday 4:00pm to 12:00am for two weeks and 12:00am to 8:00am for two weeks.

This position runs from mid-September, 2019, to mid-March, 2020. and could lead to a permanent position following the temporary assignment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Academic: Minimum 2 years academic education in related field. Specific training in working with offender groups, Risk Assessment, Risk Management, Conflict Resolution, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and Assertive Case Management. Motivational Interviewing preferred. Or an equivalent amount of schooling and experience.

 

  • Experience: Some experience working in a correctional and/or community residential environment especially with multi-barriered and mental health clients. Computer literate in MS Windows, Word and Excel and Outlook.
