The Nest

About

The Nest is a 40-unit supportive and transitional housing program in Surrey, BC, offering low-barrier housing for individuals seeking long-term stability and independence. The Nest offers a welcoming environment where residents can focus on their personal goals and wellness.

A small number of Transitional Housing units are offered for individuals wanting to continue a recovery-based lifestyle in a supported environment. Each resident lives in a fully self-contained suite and is supported by a dedicated team available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Supports include planning, service navigation, life-skills development, help accessing identification, connections to health, education, and employment services, and opportunities for social and recreational connections.

The Nest also offers daily meals, shared spaces, a community garden, and support for addressing the risks of substance use. Through consistent support and respectful care, The Nest helps residents build stability, confidence, and skills to move toward greater independence.

How to Particpate

Interested applicants can connect with a community partner to complete a Supportive Housing Registry application and submit it to the registry. When a vacancy occurs, criteria for the vacancy is sent to all community partners. Community partners will submit Supportive Housing Registry applications along with a VAT (Vulnerability Assessment Tool) to the Access and Assessment Coordinator from BC Housing and Program Manager of The Nest. The applications are brought forward to the Community Access Table and assessed based on need and criteria. Once the appropriate applicant is decided, The Program Manager and BC Housing Access and Assessment Coordinator will schedule an interview to determine program suitability.
