The Healing Grounds are a sacred outdoor space designed for reflection, ceremony, and connection to culture and natural surroundings. Phoenix upgraded the space in 2025 in consultation with Indigenous elders. It has been thoughtfully re-landscaped, led by Elder Oldhands and cultural advisors. This work reflects Phoenix’s commitment to Reconciliation and culturally safe care.
The east side of the Grounds is home to the Sweat Lodge, stewarded by Elder Oldhands, which is open to the public on Sundays. It is otherwise accessed by invitation for ceremonies. The west side, with gardens and a gathering shelter, is open daily from dawn to dusk for quiet contemplation. The Healing Grounds are a place where connection to land, culture, and self can flourish.
The Healing Grounds are located at the Phoenix Centre campus, on the unceded and continuously occupied territory of the Semiahmoo and Katzie and Kwantlen people.
