Phoenix Welcomes New CEO – Keir Macdonald

The Phoenix Society is pleased to welcome Keir Macdonald to the position of CEO.  Keir succeeds our Interim ED Kim Brazil.

“We are very excited to have Keir taking on the role of chief executive officer of Phoenix Society,” says Pat Frewer, Phoenix’s Board Chair.  “Keir brings to the job an exceptional combination of energy, knowledge, and proven leadership to the challenges of working with vulnerable populations. Both the Board and Staff are impressed with his detailed knowledge of housing and health services, his extensive work around the Opioid Epidemic here in British Columbia, and his strong management skills.  We expect Keir to not only continue the Phoenix Society’s excellent programs, but to work with partners and funders to help expand the Society’s programs to more people in need.”

Keir Macdonald joins Phoenix after several years with the Lookout Society, one of BC’s largest non-profit housing and health service providers in B.C. where he held positions as Deputy Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer. His background includes legal practice and a passion for human rights law and social justice, as well as a solid track record of leadership in times of significant change.

“The Phoenix Society is a ‘best-kept secret.’  I’m looking forward to bringing the work of this essential organization to more people in our community.” In this time of an unprecedented overdose crisis and homelessness, quality organizations like Phoenix are needed more than ever.  “I am excited to work with the exceptional management team and staff to help the organization meet the challenges of the next decade,” says Macdonald.

The Phoenix Society was founded in 1992 and today provides housing and treatment services to over 200 people every day. Supporting people to transform and reach their full potential, the Phoenix Society offers encouragement and accessible services for people who face addiction, mental health, housing, education, criminal justice involvement, and employment challenges to lead a healthy and productive life.

Keir Macdonald started his role of Chief Executive Officer on November 15th, 2018.
